Walking In A Winter Wonderland

It hasn't been the funnest of weeks. Thankfully, yesterday I found myself with a little down time and decided to take advantage of the warmer weather and headed outdoors to get some fresh air and clear my head. I really wanted to ride my bike, but I wasn't sure what the condition of the trails would be, so I walked the bike path along the river instead. It was so beautiful outside. I took my camera along, and here is some of what I saw.

These two lakes were frozen, and the sunlight shining off them was beautiful.

The ducks looked a little chilly.

I love to see snow on the foothills.

Bridges may be icy!!!

I was surprised at how calm the water was in this section of the river.

My walk got a little long, and I needed to rest. So, I found a dry place to sit and built this little snowman. He was kind of glum, so I didn't stick around too long to chat.

I got home with wet shoes, wet socks, and very cold feet. However, my spirit was refreshed, and for that, I'm thankful.

I Want To Ride My Bicycle...

Today I dusted off my bike, aired up the tires, and hit the trail. I went almost fourteen miles round trip. Now, I'm tired, cold, and sore.

It has probably only been about three months since I last rode my bike, but that was long enough for all the endurance and strength I built up last summer to disappear. Some of those hills beat me today.

I'm sure there is something to be learned here. Getting off my bike and walking up those hills can probably even be seen as a metaphor for something profound. Frankly, I'm too tired to figure it out.

Thoughts???
